The collection of military uniforms at the State Historical Society reflects the country’s history

As curator of the Missouri historic costume and textile collection at MU, Nicole Johnston knew she had to commemorate America’s 250th birthday in a meaningful way.

After spending two years on the project, she decided to represent the history of the United States with a collection of military uniforms gathered from Missouri veterans, along with war-era posters and contemporary art. The exhibit runs through Aug. 15.
